Unsubscribe Me, For the 20th Time

Unsubscribe Me

Unsubscribe? No so thing. Like a 12 step meeting they keep coming back.

I remember hearing about a new platform that was (at least for a brief time) available for canceling all accounts. But it seems that site is down, gone or sold?

I’ve tried to unsubscribe even from my accounts on The Ladders, Twitter, LinkedIn, Vimeo, Monster and many other sites, etc., all pretend as if you never unsubscribed. In fact even after you have (for the third time as with The Ladders, for me a useless site), they will even remind you of when you opted in. The Job Search sites are the worst because if you wind up submitting for a job you’ll find you’ve inadvertently agreed to sign up to several spam sites. Ugh!

Some sites don’t allow full deletion, forcing you to merely “deactivate”. When I couldn’t buy a date I remember signing up for match but I believe my profile is still up there which as you can imagine won’t make my wife too happy.

What to do?

I found an excellent article on Wikihow that really gives you the low down on the who, what, where, why, when and how long for delete myself from the internet or cancel my profile accounts. If they won’t unsubscribe you, then you can bet they’re holding onto your data. When you see emails, do not open just delete.

Click on the frustrated person above to go to the Wiki How article on how to get started deleting yourself from extra sites that you no longer use, or that won’t let go.
