I started a group on LinkedIn and it’s OFF THE HOOK popular with all the right people.

It’s named The New York City Media Communications Professionals Group and it is predominantly for Public Relations Executives and Account Managers, Advertising Executives including from Broadcast, Digital and Publishing. But I’m just amazed at the growth of this group.

So much so that I’m going to throw a party.

Dealing with the media presents unique challenges. How stories are pitched, using what mediums and to whom are of interest to this group. Media personnel need to become deeply familiar with their “beats” and engage with their clients and prospects on increasingly personal levels.

As technology continues to change the landscape, opportunities to partner with former competitors is increasingly becoming the norm. Like they say, all politics is local. And this group is specifically for New Yorkers.

Here we will share and discuss members’ service offerings and shamelessly network until LinkedIn ceases to exist.

The New York City Communications Professionals Group will be capped at 500 because I want to establish a top 500 list as a who’s who of sorts. For now it’s open enrollment but eventually it will be a limited to those who stay most active and establish themselves in the world of PR, Marketing & Communications as THE Movers and shakers within the industry.

Members include executives from AT&T Interactive, The Ladders, Premiere Radio Networks, Conde Naste, Harrods, Ameritrade, Stratfor, JCDecaux, Oglivy and more.
