On the podium I played it cool…. There were four of us speaking at Debra Kaufman’s NAB panel on mobile as a utility for marketing films and television. Myself representing New York mobile marketing agency, Michael Dutton from AP, Curt Doty from and Jason Lim from (a Los Angeles and Shanghai digital agency).


The big splash was made by Curt – agreed. Again, if you have the relationships in place to get people who one day may be fired for marketing an SNL flick? I mean go for it. But we’re not talking about John Belushi and Dan Akroyd…. we’re talk post-Will Ferrell! Nevertheless – kudos to Curt – the App look great – was a lot of fun even if just for Apple (10%) users. Still in business mode so I’m running out to talk about’s studio facilities and broadcast capabilities but suffice it say the two big buzzwords from the conference in my opinion (others may differ as all the concepts were great), are budget and metrics. I think while our demo for the beautiful street drama “INSIDE A CHANGE” by filmmaker Rik Cordero was stark in comparison to the accomplishments of the other three, the ubiquity and demonstrable ROI was with our offering – (i.e. beyond just APPLE).

The key component being registration and notification, the compatibility and inclusion of windows (most people in a corporation are still on IE6 in an enterprise environment), and making mobile marketing available to independent filmmakers who have limited marketing budgets.

As far as Vegas, I’m already at 50 plus business cards, that many more conversations and – this trip isn’t even over. Haven’t even been here 48 hours. Will hit the floors hard tomorrow and come back after another 20 or 30 conversations with a dozen or more prospects and – that’s what this is good for.
