It was raining that night. Truth was I should’ve been on my way home to my wife and baby girl. But I put on my suit and set out across town to a meet-up at the Empire Hotel by Lincoln Center.

I was there to meet my contact Ran Wong, the organizer of the event but I was a little early. So I made my way to the rooftop bar and ordered a Stoli and soda while I checked out the place.

Not bad. even my iPhone was pulling down mobile websites. But I wasn’t there to discuss iProgram’s mobile marketing or content delivery capabilities. Sure the mobile video looks good even 11 floors up.

And if the opportunity presented itself I would bring up – New York’s hottest new Broadcast Production and Post Facility with T-1 access and fiber connectivity. But the real game was about our ability to do remote webcasting, our syndication tricks and other IP- based strategies.

As night began to fall the red neon of the hotel sign lit up the night sky. I went outside to get a better look. Meanwhile my contact who’d just arrived, was busy with some other suits. I’d have to wait my turn.

Then someone looked at my nametag and introduced himself. Said he was some sort of bigshot at a staffing agency. I’d heard that before. Seems he was at the meet-up to scout talent. We talked, he gave me his card.

People were piling into the event. Finally I saw my chance with Ran Wong. We talked briefly about New York’s GCMP and iProgram, webcasting and mobile marketing.

Then as quickly as the conversation started, it was over. We scheduled a call for next week. I left.

The next day I got an email.

To be continued…
