THE WEST’S SUPPORT FOR DICTATORS AND MONARCHS RATHER THAN FOR DEMOCRACY… CRUMBLES

February 11th, 2011 · No Comments · Social Commentary

We’re supposed to be the freedom guys right?

We’re supposed to be the free speech guys right?

We’re supposed to be the guys who are against child labor right?

“Our” Dictators have a problem.

They’ve finally hoarded so much, looted so much and stolen so much, and brutalized so much, that people have little recourse but to pour gasoline over themselves and light themselves on fire just to be heard (as what happened in Tunisia). I’ve often blogged about the borderline tyranny that the governments of the world are flirting with whether in the UK, the Middle East, Africa or here.

The British and French started it, then left and we came in on their heels and took over.

And poor Joe Biden, just happened to pick the wrong side in Egypt. So whenever we hear something from our administration about condemning and “grave concern”, just chalk it up to rhetoric. Because it still remains to be seen if this is real change we are seeing, what if any happy medium can be reach with the new regimes that come to power in countries like Libya, Yemen, Bahrain, Algeria and so on.

Or will it look like Turkey. Secular, but not.

And for how long will that last?

Here’s a post from 2002 on a site called global issues.

It’s an eye-opener.
