THE EFFECTS OF HURRICANE SANDY STILL LINGER

November 13th, 2012 · No Comments · Social Commentary

Sandy

For the second time in a year and a century the New York City Subway System was being shut down. That means at least 2 or 3 days off with pay as it takes that much tome to power back on the system. This time try 2 weeks before we were able to get back into our Manhattan offices.

In Brooklyn there for Irene there were lots of downed branches and some wind caused damage to be sure. But Irene was a fetus compared to the full grown wrath of Irene.

Gas shortages and rationing kept us at home. Though many chanced it and found themselves running out of gas while they waited on line for hours. The lights were not operational all over the Midwood, Sheepshead Bay, Coney Island and Brighton Beach Parts of Brooklyn.

I’ve never seen so many downed trees…. and we got off easily.

I’ll never forget my experience downtown on 9/11 (search previous posts). And that’s why I can empathize with those who’s numbers came up this time with Sandy.

We all get our turn. So be kind and do SOMETHING to help someone else.
