Okay – there’s less than a half hour to go and here are my thoughts and New Year’s Resolutions for 2012. First I’m blown away by Justin Bieber and Carlos Santana’s rendition of Let It Be in Times Square. There is hope after all. Then Lady Gaga had to come along all packed into a black body outfit and she looked, um…. well, packed in there. But I’m not going to let images of her grabbing her crotch and slithering around out of tune ruin my New Year’s Eve. She’s sometimes good, sometimes not.

To love my wife and kids more.

Perhaps the most precious thing we have is time. You can buy love, you can buy houses and cars, but the one thing you can’t buy is time. With my new job at AT&T Interactive I certainly have a lot less of it. I’m finding that I go on Facebook a lot less because if I’m on about five chat windows open up (I have 3000 friends), and one is somewhat obliged to at a minimum be polite.

Recently I had lunch with a friend whom I haven’t seen for thirty years since college (we were suite-mates at SUNY Binghamton) and it was great to see him. Social media aside I don’t have time for linkedin much less the Meetups. I barely get to watch TV as I enjoy my kids until it’s their bedtime. It’s all I can do to get my blogs in as well as respond to important emails.

And so it is with this New Year’s Eve post that I declare that 2012 will be about getting back more of my time. There are the other usual New Year’s resolutions about losing weight (the number one statistically), eating right, exercising more, saving more and spending less, throwing out all the stuff in your storage locker….. closing the storage locker and so on.

How about praying more and being a better Christian! I’ve tried for over 20 years and I never seem to be able to get this one right.

For sure, all of the above are good ideas and I’m going to do my best to keep them.

However streamlining my life is at the top of my list for 2012.
