There are Hucksters giving internet marketing a bad name. Internet Marketing Hucksters

First let me start out by saying that I work for an internet marketing company. I meet all kinds, the people I work with are charismatic to the point of being hysterical.

There is no doubt that if a business owner is going to market and advertise their company, they have to have an online (and increasingly mobile) marketing strategy.

The problem however is that the emphasis is on selling the business as much advertising as possible and not ethically understanding that long term thinking and growing organically are key to a lasting relationship.

What happens is you get diminished ROI, bad results and off the hook churn. Further, there are a zillion of these Internet marketing companies that harass business owners who receive upwards of a dozen calls a day from the likes of Yodle, Yext, Yelp and Reach Local.

Speaking of Reach Local, they seem to me to have generally about the worst reputation I have come across.

I walked in on a dental office in Hell’s Kitchen and heard a story that they had to have the cops come and remove one sales person. My approach is more subtle and I love getting to know the business and often become a customer myself.
