INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS ARE ALL THE RAGE AT THE 2011 NBA Draft

June 23rd, 2011 · No Comments · Social Commentary, sports

Check out 4 of the top 7 picks are from overseas. One of the things I’m wondering are where are all the Centers? Season opens with record 84 international players. There were a record 84 international players from 38 countries and territories. Twenty-eight of the 30 teams feature at least one international player. Some other facts:

The Toronto Raptors are the most internationally diverse team, with six countries represented: Australia, Brazil, Italy, Lithuania, Nigeria, and Spain.
The Utah Jazz features players from five countries and territories: Netherlands, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
This year, Jamaica and Nigeria — countries that produced NBA legends Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon, respectively — return to the list.
France is the most represented country, boasting 11 players, followed by Turkey, with five. Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Serbia, and Spain each have four players on NBA rosters.

The Knicks need a big man. I guess we’re only going to find one of those overseas. Here’s a link to the live blog.
