HISTORY CHANNEL’S VIKINGS A CLOSE SECOND TO HBO’S GAME OF THRONES

With all the commotion about Game of Thrones, Vikings is establishing itself as a close second must watch TV show. Now that History Channel’s “Vikings” has finished Season 1 and been renewed thankfully for a second season, we can draw some contrasts between both of these fantasy series set in the middle ages.

In fact – I’m starting to get annoyed with Game of Thrones. Just like the Sopranos, the first season was tremendous. Though now, we’re in the third season, and there are entirely too many characters. Further too many of the characters that have been added are minor players in the grander scheme of which faction will ultimately wind up in King’s Landing?

The House Starks, the House Lannister?

No one cars about the fat guy from the Knight’s Watch who ran away with the victim of incest and her offspring. And what’s more is I find it unbelievable (obviously the whole thing is fantasy and unbelievable) that this coward would have stabbed and killed the King of the White Walkers.

Some characters now only have one short scene. Others are left out of episodes entirely. What are the producers of this show thinking?

By contrast, Vikings knows where it’s bread is buttered. Star Travis Fimmel is like in almost every scene. And we want it that way.

Here’s an interesting page – what the stars of “Vikings” really look like.
