One of the great things about the Holiday Break is catching up on television.

My wife has gotten a head start though. She’s been watching so much Criminal Minds that I have had no choice but to watch too. (See previous post). We all have our favorite shows but that’s not what I’m trying to get at in this post.

I call it the Dumb Out.

Google “Empty your mind” and you’ll find all sorts of wonderful pages dedicated to the subject and the positive mental benefits attributable to such an endeavor. Formulaic television qualifies. It just runs in the background and there is little to do other than hit the fast forward through the commercials. If I’m feeling particularly industrious I’ll get some blogging or facebook in.

With so much to watch and so little time, it’s like a job that has to be done. Or should I say… dumb.
