When I was in High School, I hung out with David Arthurs and Todd Klepper, Josh Trachtman and some other good friends. To be sure we got a healthy measure of all styles of music in and Mondo Boffo, the band I formed with John Vercesi and Josh had heavy funk, ska and fusion influences.

But I came from Forest Hills, land of the Ramones. I learned guitar by repeatedly putting the needle to the record and copying songs from Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Skynryd, Pink Floyd and other 70’s monster rock bands. In fact, the walls in my room were papered over in pages I cut out from Circus, Cream and other rock magazines.

Then when I started hanging out with David and Todd it was Neil Young, Joe Walsh, Bowie, Who, and the beginning of the 80’s MTV ride. For kids who watch Snookie on MTV, they have no idea what they missed in the 80’s. Not only have the best clubs that ever existed faded into memory in New York and LA, but the best bands, and more importantly scenes.

To this day the best concert I ever saw was The Who and The Clash at Shea Stadium.

And that’s what cemented me wanting to be in a band, getting up on stage, putting on that guitar, turning on the amp, checking mic and starting it up. Which I am doing to this day.

That’s right. Still doing it and representing. From Mondo Boffo to Hagatha, The She’s to Bad Hotel, I love getting on a stage with a brew and throwing down.

ESR fronted by my cousin James Casazza is quickly catching on as a top notch blues band and I’m fortunate enough to play at a gig where they’re throwing out an original, Bad Hotel’s “BAD HOTEL”.

I was hanging out with Paul Vercesi of Urban Blight at a recent gig they did at Webster Hall and we were remarking how after all these years we still love to get up and rock a crowd. And Rock we will one week from tonight at Mulberry Street Bar in Orlando, 10 pm.

The set list is a rocking one which James let me hand pick out of dozens of songs in their repertoire. I don’t know the order but the set list includes:

Gimme 3 Steps (Lynryd Skynrd)
Cinnamon Girl (Neil Young)
Rocky Mountain Way (Joe Walsh)
Hard To Handle (Black Crowes)
Wrap It Up (Fabulous Thunderbirds)
Jumping Jack Flash (Rolling Stones)
Green River (Credence Clearwater Revival)
Jesus Just Left Chicago (ZZ Top)
Mustang Sally (Wilson Pickett)

and Bad Hotel (Bad Hotel)

I understand Singer Chris Stamper will also be getting up on stage for this concert. Don’t miss this show if you’re anywhere near Orlando and say hello. That goes for all my Facebook Friends.

Here’s a clip from ESR playing Jesus Just Left Chicago. Can’t wait to join these guys on stage.
