CAROUSEL OFFERS A MULTIMEDIA PLETHORA OF IMAGES AND LAUGHS AT DIXON PLACE

September 27th, 2010 · 1 Comment · Media

I went to see R. Sikoryak’s Carousel Show down at Dixon Place a few weeks back. Finally got done with the edit and posted it on Splash.

Really – this was an incredible show. It’s even more so because in this (now) digital age, the fact that printed media can still maintain its popularity and relevancy is in no small part due to shows like this. The talent was top notch and included Daniel Goodson, Laurie Sandell, Danny Hellman, John Kovaleski, R. Sikoryak, Jason Roeder and Ted Travelstead from the Association For The Betterment of Sex and Emily Flake.

The whole concept is that the artists, all of whom have had their work published in top international publications, as well as in some cases displayed in art museums, read their work while showing slides. There is spontaneous give and take with the crowd as well as some interesting insights provided by the artists themselves.

Here is a clip from the Sept. 15, 2010, performance at Dixon Place (the current home of Carousel which prior to that was at CBGB).
