We got ourselves a Juicer. Not any Juicer. An Omega Juicer which is supposedly the best.

There are some (named Nino), who are skeptical. Who think the McLanes are succumbing to fad and fashion with this radical shift in consumption protocol. But we say no.

It is not going to be for just a week or two and then onto the next big thing. The reasons are this. 4 and sometimes 5 days a week I am eating lunch down on Wall Street in the shadow of the soon to be Twin Towers (coming along gloriously I might add, finally).

On a budget the choices aren’t many without an expense account.

1. Subway 5 Dollar Footlong
2. Sam’s Falafel $4 (best in the city, even better than Mamoun’s) whuch I get for $3 mention this post.
3. Designer Juices or Smoothies $4
4. Happy Dumpling House $2.50 (requires walk to behind the courts

And to be honest I go through phases of wanting one or the other. But the Juicing thing really got a hold of me.

The first day I had Celery, Beet, Carrot and Pineapple. The next I got carried away and dumped a dozen different fruits and veggies in there. I was speeding for real.

So far we’ve created two signature drinks excluding “The Kitchen Sink” which is – we have to use these fruits and vegetables or they’re going to go bad.

The first is “Vineyard Mist” which is Red Grapes, Pear and a stalk (just one) of Celery. UMMMMMMMM – even Sopo likes it. She generally doesn’t like the real stuff but store bought bottled. And the second drink is “Desert Calm” which is Cactus Fruit and Cucumber which I thought was bland but Shorena loved the subtlety and texture.

It’s also a great way for the whole family to do something together so we’ll keep you posted. Then for the adults you add Light Rum or Vodka with some Ice and bring to the roof for a tar beach Daycation!!!
