OHIO ARTIST COLLECTIVE BROKEN DAYTON MACHINE

THey said that Pittsburgh was coming back. Everyone smirked.

Then I visited Pittsburgh and found out that it was true. That the city had become so run down and ruined by the collapse of the steel industry that artists seized upon it and now Pittsburgh, like Chattanooga and other cities in the new south is back with shops, restaurants and yes – galleries.

Apparently this is also going to be the case in Dayton OH.

I remember Dayton not because I ever was there except or driving through it at 100 miles an hour with no radar to get back to the lower east side (use your imagination). I remember Dayton because a girl I was temping with had purchased a house on Ebay there for $5,000. It was dreadful – but she bought it and fixed it up.

Then I received an email from some friends at a gallery and the work is impressive.

Check out Broken Dayton Machine at their website by clicking their image below. They have a show running for a few more days called “Better Than Nothing” at the Grey Art Gallery which if you can get to, GO!

Enjoy the Nuclear Football by Phillip Evans.
